Three of Beatrix Potter's best
loved little books are brought to life in one spectacular show. Every
aspect of the show is as close to the books as possible. The storylines
are complete. The dialogue is nearly verbatim from her text. The character
and set designs are taken directly from her watercolours. May we therefore
suggest that you read these three books if you have not done so in a
while. If you love these books, as many people do, including ourselves,
you will love this show.
To make this artistic transition from page to stage, we have had to use
over fifty hand and/or rod plus shadow puppets, moving scenery and a lot
of technology.
This show is especially recommended for Kindergarten to Grade 3. It is
certainly a good idea to read these stories to children before the show,
or have the children read them themselves. After the show, you may wish to
read other Beatrix Potter books; many of the characters appear in more
than one book; the books are numbered 1-26 and those of higher number are
more difficult. You may wish to read a biography of Beatrix Potter at some
point; it is also an interesting story.
The running time of the show is nearly one hour. If your audience is
younger children, we can do a shorter version (without the "Tale of Jemima
Puddleduck). A dim/dark room is much preferred as the show uses some
shadow puppet projections.
A strobe light
and ripples are used in this show - Persons with epilepsy should take appropriate
precautions
